July marks the beginning of the McCaskey Alumni Association’s new Fiscal New Year (2023-2024)! We thank our Alumni for the remarkable year we have just concluded, and we hope you will consider launching us into this new Fiscal New Year with a gift in the amount of your graduation year:

Here are just a few memories of what our supporters made possible in our previous fiscal year…

In October, 2022 the Alumni Association held its quinquennial graveside ceremony honoring the birthday of the high school’s namesake, John Piersol McCaskey. The event made front page news!

In November, 2022 the Alumni Association, along with the Barney Ewell Legacy Committee, dedicated a statue of Olympic sprinter Barney Ewell ’38 in Ewell Plaza.

As a subsidiary of the Lancaster Education Foundation, the Alumni Association assisted with LEF’s Hooked on Books program, distributing a different book every month to all SDOL second graders.

The Alumni Center at McCaskey was made available as a resource for student research. Pictured: Miriam Lester ‘23 interviewed famed journalist David Greene ‘94 for the Vidette and used the Alumni Center archives today to locate his contributions to the Burning Glass.

The 2nd Annual Joe Philo Alumni Classic brought former McCaskey basketball greats back together for a very fun contest and Alumni gathering.

We held our annual class reunion workshop, offering support to those who do the hard work of organizing class reunions.

McCaskey’s 85th Birthday Party in May brought 300+ graduates back to the high school to see a massive display of memorabilia.

Partnering with SDOL on the Tornado Torch program, the Alumni Association inspired hundreds of Alumni to write inspiring letters to graduating seniors.

The Alumni Association planned its Salute to Korean War Veterans, which will be held on July 27.
